“Just a short note to thank you and your committee on behalf of our team on Rosslare Europort for all your efforts and preparations for what was a very memorable Round Ireland Yacht Race where the varied conditions of the 2010 race provided a true challenge for us and all of the competitors.

I would also like to take the opportunity of thanking your colleagues at Wicklow Sailing Club for all the hospitality shown during our time in Wicklow, it has been greatly appreciated.

We will now turn our attentions to the 2012 race in due course.”

”We got home safe and sound and had the best night sleep ever last night!

Thanks so very much to you and everyone else involved for such amazing hospitality and support.  I have never come across such a brilliant welcome at any regatta or event.  Full credit to everyone in Wicklow.

We will definitely be back in two years and will hopefully bring you more boats!

I think we have about 15 people intending to come in October so we very much look forward to seeing you then.

Once again, thanks very much for everything.”

A big thanks to you and everyone in Wicklow.  While the winds may not have favoured our boat, it was a great race and extremely enjoyable to once again go around the most beautiful little country in all the world.  I thoroughly enjoyed the race, my third Round Ireland and most enjoyable to date.  I am sorry we couldn't stay around for the arrival of the majority of the fleet, I know it is one of the best parties and I was sad not to be part of it.  Please relay my thanks to your organizing team, sponsors and all at Wicklow Sailing Club.  My best wishes to you all.

Thank you for an amazing race

Just wanted to say a big thanks to you and all the crew involved with the Round Ireland Race.

This was the first time Team Windmill did this race and we had a super time racing, even seeing a minke whale and Dolphins added to the fun also.

“Lynn, I just wanted to say many thanks to you Jacky and Dennis for all your guidance in the run up to the Round Ireland.  As always it was a superbly organised event with a very special atmosphere unique to Wicklow Sailing Club.  Hope you are all getting a well deserved rest.”

Comments?  What a fantastic event (again) for Wicklow but this time even friendlier, more open and brilliantly run! Its nice, even on the fringe and as an aspirant sailor, to share part of it. Well done Charlie and the whole club!

Just a quick note to wish you and all the team all the very best for the upcoming Round Ireland. It seems like only yesterday we were leaving work this very Thursday and heading to Wicklow for the start of the 2008 race. Which for us is to be remembered forever not only for the unbelievably wild weather we had, but also as we got engaged as we crossed the finish line.

Two years on, we are now very happily married and although unfortunately not participating in this years race; we are at least still racing together (we're off the race J24's in Lough Ree this weekend.)

The 2008 race gave us fantastic memories which we will carry with us for life and my engagement ring, after being very well hidden in the bowels of the boat, was carried all the way round. Shortly after the race I got it engraved on the inside with ''Round Irl 2008'' in memory. We had intended on spending the weekend of the 2010 start in Wicklow to soak up the atmosphere, but unfortunately another regatta clashes so we can’t make it.

Please pass on all our very best wishes to all the teams of excellent volunteers and of course our best of luck to all the competitors (although I am a little jealous that they will be getting nicer weather than we got).

2010 marks the landmark 30th anniversary of Ireland’s premier off-shore sailing event.

The Conway Media Round Ireland Yacht Race departs Wicklow Bay at 12 noon on Sunday 20th June 2010 from Wicklow Bay.

The Round Ireland is the longest race in the Royal Ocean Racing Club calendar. The first race took place in 1980 with only thirteen boats. Since then, held biannually, the fleet has grown steadily, and in the order of 40 yachts are expected to participate this year.

The 2010 renewal plans to build on the success of previous races and the Volvo RTW 2009 stopover in Galway . A Round Ireland Sail Fest (Fri 18 - Sun 20 June) will complement the race preparations and add a welcome level of fun and entertainment for all coming down.

Race Participants: The final date for acceptance of entrants to the 2010 Conway Media Round Ireland Yacht Race is Thursday 17th June 2010. To date there are 30 entrants to the Race, including two yachts from Wicklow, entrants from the UK , the Netherlands and France and across Ireland. The number is steadily rising and the excitement is building as the Race start date fast approaches.

RE: SPECIAL REGULATIONS INSPECTIONS

2008 Round Ireland 2nd Toughest in Races History

With three gales during the 2008 Round Ireland Yacht Race it proved to be one of the toughest on man and racings machine. Only in 1990, when 26 out of the 61 entrants (43% of the fleet) were forced to retire primarily due to boat or rig damage, did the attrition rate exceed this years figures of 16 retirements from a fleet of 46 (35%).
