Magical Night Sailing – Pyxis
” width=”300″ height=”300″ />Decided to slip in an extra blog to describe something which I first saw as a teenager racing in the Irish Sea around the Morecambe Bay area and the Isle of Man – so like coming home really. This is for those who have not had the privilege of being at sea at night – you get a wonderful sparkling effect in the wake of the
boat – it is known as phosphoresce. It looks like lots of tiny fireflies lighting up in the water as you sail along – magical. It does make me think of my current home in Virginia where Martin and I have seen fireflies for the first time Wonderful little glowing creatures flitting amongst the trees into the evening. That’s my poetic bit over now back to enjoying trucking along at around 7 knots, now we have breeze following a light evening.
More tomorrow…
